June 15, 2010 Membership Meeting: Quality and Business Analysis: Sister Disciplines

Thanks to all everyone who could join us for our June membership meeting!  Our speaker was Jim Steele, an IT Manager with 25+ years of experience in diverse technologies. Based on the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA), the professional organization for Business Analysts (BAs), his presentation and informal interactive survey explored the similarities and differences of the Quality and Business Analysis disciplines, how working together may benefit the disciplines, and how working together could benefit particular projects. For more information, go to http://www.theiiba.org/am/. Jim is working to establish an IIBA chapter in Hawaii (see http://techhui.ning.com/group/iibahnl). IIBA was founded in 2003. IIBA now has greater than 12,000 members in more than 100 chapters around the world in over 40 countries. Studies have shown that BA participation on projects have increased project success rates. The rapid growth rate of the profession and improved success rates make it more likely there will be BAs on any IT, Quality, and Process Improvement projects. Mahalo to Bonsai who provided another outstanding food service experience. Mahalo to Jim for sharing.
